Setting Up Advanced Notifications
When the Interface Engine receives an HL7 message containing test results, a TaskMan message is automatically generated for the provider associated with the patient in the message. The Advanced Notifications feature allows you to define additional or alternate users who will also receive TaskMan notifications for those results.
To Set Up Advanced Notifications
- Log in to the Interface Client
- Launch the Interface Client and log in as usual.
- Open Advanced Notifications
- In the Windows system tray, right‑click the Interface Client icon.
- Select Advanced Notifications from the pop‑up menu.
- Select the Spoke
- In the Advanced Notifications window, select the spoke (interface) you want to configure.
- Assign Users to Receive Notifications
- In the left list, click a provider to select that provider.
- In the right list, locate the users who should receive TaskMan notifications when results are received for patients associated with that provider.
- Double-click the check box next to each desired user to select them.
- These users will receive a TaskMan notification whenever results arrive for that provider’s patients.
- Copy Settings to Other Spokes (Optional)
- If you have more than one inbound results interface (for example, both Quest and LabCorp):
- Click Copy settings to other spokes to apply the same notification settings to your other inbound results spokes.
- If you have more than one inbound results interface (for example, both Quest and LabCorp):
- Save Settings
- Notification settings are automatically saved when you close the Advanced Notifications window.
Special Case: Unknown Patient or Provider
If an HL7 results file is received and:
- No patient can be identified, or
- No provider can be identified for the patient,
then the TaskMan message will be sent to the users designated to receive Heartbeat Monitor messages. These users will receive a TaskMan message related to the results message so it can be reviewed and resolved.
