Problem

1. You would like to take a patient photo during the check-in process.
2. Your workstation has a webcam installed but you are not able to take a patient photo during check-in.
3. Your webcam worked on a previous workstation but is no longer working after a workstation upgrade.
4. You are installing a new webcam.
5. You would like to use DigiCam / Snapshot on a Windows 11 OS.

Cause

Solution Series features native support for using a webcam to take a patient photo, also known as Digicam or Snapshot.

To use a webcam or digital camera you must ensure that a TWAIN driver is installed on the workstation with your camera.
As a software vendor, eMDs does not provide hardware drivers. Drivers are generally provided by the manufacturer of your device and can usually be found on the manufacturer's website. If your webcam manufacturer did not provide a TWAIN driver for your camera, it may be possible to find a Generic TWAIN video driver elsewhere.

Windows 7 does require the use of a generic TWAIN driver.

Resolution

1. Check your manufacturer's Support site for the latest TWAIN driver for your webcam and operating system.
2. Install the driver according to manufacturer's instructions.
3. Log into Solution Series and open DocMan.
4. In the File menu, click "Select Twain Source" and verify your webcam is listed.

Installing a generic TWAIN for Windows 11:

1. Search online for a generic video data source. It will generally have a name similar to videoDS.ds.
2. Download or unzip this generic driver (i.e., videoDS.ds) into the C:\Windows\twain_32\ directory
3. Log into Solution Series and open DocMan.
4. In the File menu, click 'Select Twain Source' and verify your webcam is listed.
